Hilton has announced plans to quadruple its presence in Saudi Arabia, with over 60 new hotels across major tourism destinations.

The expansion includes the recent opening of the Hotel Galleria Jeddah in Jeddah as part of their Curio Collection and future developments like The Hilton Riyadh Olaya and three properties in Ahsa in partnership with the PIF-owned Dan Company

The expansion is expected to create almost 10,000 new jobs and increase hotel rooms to 55,000 across the kingdom, contributing to Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 goals of attracting 150 million visitors annually.

Hilton’s Expansion Plan

Hilton’s ambitious expansion strategy in Saudi Arabia is facilitated by the strong relationships it has built over the past 30 years in the Kingdom. 

The plan will involve introducing award-winning brands into new tourism destinations and large-scale developments, as well as major cities and regional locations across the country.

The expansion is a part of Hilton’s commitment to growth in Saudi Arabia, reiterated during a visit led by Hilton’s President & CEO, Chris Nassetta. During his visit, Nassetta met with the Ministry of Tourism to discuss Hilton’s growth plans across the Kingdom.

As a part of its expansion plan, Hilton works closely with owners and partners to develop leading destinations for business and leisure travelers. 

These developments include the recent opening of The Hotel Galleria Jeddah as a part of their Curio Collection, Hampton by Hilton Sharma, and the upcoming opening of The Hilton Riyadh Olaya.

The Hotel Galleria Jeddah, part of Hilton’s Curio Collection, recently opened in Saudi Arabia. The opening was celebrated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by Hilton’s President & CEO, Chris Nassetta, representatives of SEDCO Holding, and esteemed partners and guests.

Inspired by the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II in Milan, this lifestyle property offers guests 363 stylish rooms and suites, bespoke amenities, and world-class dining in the heart of vibrant Prince Mohamed bin Abdul-Aziz Street, Jeddah. 

With spa facilities and diverse retail offerings, the hotel is expected to elevate the guest experience with a focus on leisure and recreation.

Hampton by Hilton Sharma

The first Hampton by Hilton in Saudi Arabia is set to debut in Sharma. In partnership with Cayan Group, the property aims to provide guests with a seamless stay experience. 

The 201-guest room property is located within 20 minutes of NEOM Bay Airport and two hours from the main regional airport in Tabuk.

Hilton Riyadh Olaya

The Hilton Riyadh Olaya, scheduled to open in March 2024, will offer guests 239 contemporary guest rooms and suites. These include sophisticated residential suites equipped with fully functional kitchens and appliances. 

The hotel will feature diverse dining options and a range of amenities, including a spa, an indoor pool, and a fitness center.

During the visit, Chris Nassetta, President & CEO of Hilton, affirmed Hilton’s commitment to its growth strategy in Saudi Arabia. Nassetta highlighted the company’s dedication to contributing to the Kingdom’s tourism infrastructure, which is part of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 objectives.

Hilton’s Job Creation in Saudi Arabia

The expansion of Hilton’s portfolio in Saudi Arabia is expected to create almost 10,000 new jobs. More than half of these new hires are expected to be Saudi nationals. 

Hilton aims to build a purpose-driven workplace by partnering with academic institutions to provide the necessary training and tools to support people across Saudi Arabia in pursuing life-long, fulfilling careers in hospitality.

These destinations will feature brands including Hilton Hotels & Resorts, Canopy by Hilton, and Motto by Hilton. Furthermore, Hilton announced the signing of Waldorf Astoria Diriyah Gate, which joins Wadi Hanifah and LXR Hotels & Resorts – also under development at the giga-project.

Other hotels under development in Saudi Arabia include Conrad Riyadh Laysen Valley, Canopy by Hilton Porta Jeddah, and Hilton The Point Residences and Canopy by Hilton The Point in Abha.

Hilton operates 18 hotels in Saudi Arabia, including Hilton Jeddah, Conrad Makkah, and Hilton Riyadh Hotel & Residences

Its development pipeline of more than 60 properties will introduce additional new brands like LXR Hotels & Resorts and Embassy Suites by Hilton in the coming years.

The Hilton brand is moving towards growth in Saudi Arabia through the recent agreement to open its inaugural Airport Hotel in Dammam– The Hilton Dammam Airport. 

This lavish establishment will be the country’s first airport hotel and will set a high standard for convenience and luxury. It boasts 273 well-appointed guest rooms, including a junior suite, providing a wide range of options for all types of travelers.

Heritage Hotels in Jeddah

The Al Balad Development Company has collaborated with the Jeddah Historic District Program to oversee the operation of Heritage Hotels in Jeddah within the Jeddah Historic District. 

This district, also known as Al Balad, was recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2014 and boasts more than 600 historic structures. 

With the support of the Saudi Ministry of Culture, the partnership aims to renovate 34 traditional houses into heritage hotels, allowing tourists to appreciate the cultural richness and importance of the Jeddah Historic District.

Jumeirah Jabal Omar Makkah

The Jumeirah Jabal Omar Hotel in the Holy City of Makkah is the first official hotel of Dubai’s Jumeirah Hotel group in the Saudi Arabian market. 

It is located in the heart of Jabal Omar, close to the Grand Mosque, Al Masjid Al Haram, and is part of the second phase of the Jabal Omar development. 

With a total of over 1000 rooms and suites, some of which offer direct views of the haram, the hotel is dedicated to offering unforgettable experiences to Hajj and Umrah pilgrims.

Marriott’s Expansion Across Saudi Arabia

Marriott International has announced its plans for growth in Saudi Arabia, with a total of 40 hotels and over 11,000 rooms in the works. This expansion will also show the company’s presence in new high-end destinations like NEOM and The Red Sea Project

The expansion will feature a range of luxury brands, including St. Regis Red Sea Resort, which is now open, Autograph Collection, and The Ritz-Carlton Al Khobar, as well as the addition of new hotel brands in the Holy Cities of Makkah and Madinah.

The Luxury Collection’s twin establishments will grace Sindalah, the first destination in NEOM, to welcome guests. The first property offers 70 luxurious rooms, suites, and private pool villas, while the second exclusively features 115 luxury suites nestled in Sindalah’s retail and marina district. 

To be open in 2024, these hotels will offer diverse culinary experiences and recreational amenities.

Marriott International, Inc. has announced to partner with NEOM to launch two high-end establishments in Trojena, a mountain getaway in the north-western part of Saudi Arabia. This collaboration comprises the country’s inaugural W Hotel as well as a JW Marriott establishment.

Located in the diverse Lake Village of Trojena, the W Hotel will offer 236 guest rooms and 47 suites, offering stunning views of the surrounding mountains and freshwater lake. The hotel will feature the brand’s signature spaces and offer four unique dining destinations.

Ritz-Carlton Diriyah

The Ritz-Carlton Diriyah hotel will open in Diriyah in 2026 as part of the $63 Billion Diriyah Giga Project. Marriott International has already started construction on the luxurious five-star hotel.

The hotel features 195 guest rooms, 34 high-end suites, and various amenities such as upscale dining options, outdoor pools, and a fitness center. 

IHG Hotels

IHG Hotels & Resorts has launched its premium brand in Makkah, Voco Makkah. This move aims to provide excellent service to religious travelers who visit Makkah during the Hajj or Umrah seasons. 

Voco Makkah, which boasts 4,321 rooms, is the largest hotel under the Voco brand worldwide and is the third voco property in Saudi Arabia.
