The Jeddah Historic District Program has partnered with the Al Balad Development Company to manage heritage hotels in the Jeddah Historic District.

The Jeddah Historic District, known as Al Balad, was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2014 and is home to over 600 historical buildings.

The partnership formed under the patronage of the Saudi Ministry of Culture will see 34 heritage houses transformed into heritage hotels, allowing visitors to experience the cultural beauty and significance of the Jeddah Historic District.

The Jeddah Historic District Program, initiated under the patronage of the Saudi Ministry of Culture, aims to restore and revitalize the historic buildings in the heart of Jeddah. 

This ambitious program oversees the regeneration of Al Balad, the district encompassing the historic buildings, focusing on preserving the area’s unique architectural features.

Reviving Heritage

One of the key initiatives of the partnership between the Jeddah Historic District Program and Al Balad Development Company is the operation of heritage hotels within the district. 

After the restoration and rehabilitation work is completed, the program will hand over the heritage hotels to Al Balad Development Company to operate them through its “Al Balad Hospitality” arm.

The new Jeddah Central destination, aimed towards elevating Jeddah into a global tourist hotspot, has moved closer to realization. The Jeddah Central Development Company has recently awarded $3.2 billion in contracts for the inaugural development phase. 

Spanning an expansive 5.7 million square kilometers, this iconic destination is poised to showcase a world-class stadium, an oceanarium, beach resorts, 2,700 hotel rooms, shopping malls, restaurants, and 17,000 housing units.

Jeddah Tower

Jeddah Tower, the world’s tallest building in Saudi Arabia, has resumed construction to surpass 1,000 meters, which is greater than the Burj Khalifa in Dubai.

The skyscraper, set to eclipse the Burj Khalifa in the United Arab Emirates, is designed by Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture.

The tower is designed to feature a sleek, glass-clad exterior with a sloped façade, drawing inspiration from the folded fronts of desert palm trees.

Saudi Arabia’s National Housing Company launches 757 new residential units in Jeddah across two projects, Med Sadeem, and Khayal Hostel, featuring villas, townhouses, and apartments with modern amenities. 

Both projects are being implemented under the National Housing Company’s Public Private Partnership scheme, taking their total new residential projects this year to 46

MARAFY Waterfront Project

ROSHN, a real estate developer under the ownership of the Public Investment Fund (PIF), has recently initiated the MARAFY Waterfront project in Jeddah by laying the foundation stone.

The highly awaited MARAFY development is set to include an 11km artificial canal, establishing a direct connection to the Red Sea.

The waterside districts of MARAFY are expected to be seamlessly linked to one another and the broader Jeddah community through water taxis, ferries, and a dedicated metro station.

Additionally, there are plans for a direct canal link from MARAFY to Jeddah’s King Abdul Aziz International Airport.
