The Rotana hotel group has announced plans to double its presence in Saudi Arabia with the opening of 8 new hotels in the Kingdom over the next four years.

The announcement was made at the recent Saudi Tourism Forum in Riyadh, with Rotana aiming to expand to 16 properties with 4,400 keys. The expansion includes new hotels in Riyadh, Madinah, Khobar, and Al Baha. 

Rotana currently operates 74 hotels across the Middle East, Africa, Europe, and Turkey, welcoming 6 million guests annually.

Rotana’s expansion strategy significantly develops Saudi Arabia’s hospitality sector. It demonstrates Rotana’s commitment to shaping the kingdom’s tourism future and highlights the company’s ambitious growth plans in the region.

Rotana’s expansion strategy involves launching eight new properties in the kingdom by 2026. This significant development includes the introduction of the following:

He stated, “Our continuous engagement underscores our commitment to shaping the future of tourism in Saudi Arabia.”

Saudi Arabia presents one of the fastest-growing markets in the region. Rotana’s growth strategy aligns with its ambitious goal to double its current room count in the kingdom over the upcoming years.

Rotana’s Current Operations

Rotana operates 74 hotels in the Middle East, Africa, Eastern Europe, and Türkiye, serving more than six million guests annually. 

Its portfolio spans 19,237 keys and six superlative brands, including an impressive 10,159 keys across 36 hotels in the UAE and 2,200 keys across eight hotels in Saudi Arabia.

Rotana’s Expansion Beyond Saudi Arabia

Apart from Saudi Arabia, Rotana has also planned to expand in several other regions. The company’s regional pipeline for 2024 includes 

  • Onyx Arjaan by Rotana in Manama, Bahrain, 
  • Bomonti Arjaan by Rotana in Istanbul, Türkiye, 
  • Riviera Rayhaan by Rotana in Doha, Qatar 
  • Luxor Rotana Resort in Luxor, Egypt.

Moreover, Rotana is expected to debut in the Algerian market with the launch of “Azure Rotana Resort & Spa” in the port city of Oran. “Bloom Arjaan by Rotana” on Abu Dhabi’s Saadiyat Island is also scheduled to open in 2024.

Developed in partnership with Mashareq Investment, the hotel will feature 170 keys, including spacious guest rooms, an indoor pool, a fitness center, a boutique spa, and multiple dining outlets. 

Regal Hotels

Hong Kong-based Regal Hotels has signed a $5 Billion agreement with Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Investment to acquire, develop, and manage sustainable hotels and serviced apartments. Regal Hotels intends to establish 100 new hotels globally by 2035, including 50 in the Middle East.
