The PIF owned Real estate developer ROSHN has laid the foundation stone for its groundbreaking MARAFY project in Jeddah.

The much anticipated MARAFY development is due to feature an 11km artificial canal that connects directly to the Red Sea.

MARAFY’s waterside districts are due to be connected to each other and the rest of Jeddah by water taxis, ferries, and a dedicated metro station. 

It is also planned to have direct a canal link to Jeddah’s King Abdul Aziz International Airport.

The Foundation Stone Ceremony

On the day of February 15, 2024, under the patronage of Makkah Gov. Prince Khalid Al-Faisal, the foundation stone for the project was laid, marking a pivotal moment in Saudi Arabia’s real estate sector.

Numerous dignitaries attended the grand ceremony, including Makkah Deputy Gov. Prince Saud bin Mishal and Jeddah Gov. Prince Saud bin Abdullah bin Jalawi.

MARAFY: A Waterfront Experience Like No Other

One of the highlights of the MARAFY project is the introduction of an 11-kilometer-long, 100-meter-wide navigable canal, the first of its kind in Saudi Arabia. This artificial marvel will resemble a horseshoe in shape, connecting to Obhur Creek and ultimately flowing into the Red Sea.
