Saudi Arabia’s PIF backed Cruise Saudi has revealed plans for a 2nd Red Sea Private Island north of Jeddah by 2027.
The island is due to feature direct ship docking and aims to support the Kingdom’s growing cruise tourism sector.
It also complements Cruise Saudi’s ongoing expansion of Al Wajh port and Saba Beach destinations and supports Vision 2030 goals to attract 1.3 million cruise passengers annually by 2035.
Revealing Second Red Sea Private Island
Saudi Arabia is making major enhancements to its cruise tourism sector, with Cruise Saudi at the forefront of this transformation as the company announced plans to develop a second Red Sea private island, strategically located north of Jeddah, with an expected completion date by the end of 2027.
This initiative is part of a broader vision to attract millions of cruise passengers to the Kingdom by 2035, aligning with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 goals.
Direct Docking Facilities
The Chief Destination Experiences Officer of Cruise Saudi, Barbara Buczek, emphasized that the new island will be designed to accommodate large vessels, similar to Saba Beach.
However, the key difference lies in the direct docking capabilities, which will eliminate the need for tender boats to shuttle passengers to land. This improvement is expected to elevate the overall passenger experience, making it more enjoyable and efficient.
Permanent Facilities
Cruise Saudi is committed to adhering to stringent environmental regulations while developing the new island. Buczek noted that the Red Sea is a vital asset, and protecting its ecosystem is paramount.
The island will feature more permanent facilities and comprehensive developments than Saba Beach, which currently offers a variety of attractions, including a floating park, restaurants, and luxury accommodations.

The second Red Sea private island announcement comes as Cruise Saudi advances several other significant projects to bolster the Kingdom’s cruise infrastructure.
Al Wajh Port Development
One of the most critical initiatives is activating Al Wajh port, which Buczek described as essential for the cruise lines. This port will serve as a gateway to AlUla, a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of Saudi Arabia’s most sought-after destinations.
The development of Al Wajh is crucial for facilitating access to AlUla and enhancing the overall cruise experience in the region.
Jeddah Cruise Hub
In addition to the new island and Al Wajh port, Cruise Saudi is also working on establishing a dedicated cruise hub in Jeddah, separate from the existing Jeddah Islamic Port operations. This hub will streamline cruise operations and improve the overall efficiency of the cruise experience for visitors.
Expanding Facilities in Dammam
Cruise Saudi is not stopping at Jeddah and Al Wajh but also expanding its facilities at the Dammam terminal in the Arabian Gulf. Currently designed for port calls, the terminal is set to evolve into a home porting facility, further enhancing the Kingdom’s cruise capabilities.
Saba Beach Enhancements
Since its soft launch in December 2024, Saba Beach has been undergoing continuous improvements. The company focuses on expanding the facilities available to guests, ensuring they have a memorable experience during their visit.

Due to open in 2025, the resort will feature 110 ocean view rooms and 20 branded residences with unparalleled views toward the Red Sea and Hijazi mountains.
This is the first ever Nammos hotel outside Greece and will also offer a luxury spa, a fitness centre, and 4 fine dining venues.
Laheq Island
Red Sea Global has announced Laheq Island, its first private luxury residential island along the beautiful Red Sea coast.

Once open, The Ritz-Carlton, AMAALA is expected to be the largest property within the Red Sea destination.
Four Seasons Resort and Residences AMAALA
Red Sea Global and Four Seasons are preparing to launch Four Seasons Resort and Residences AMAALA at AMAALA Triple Bay in Saudi Arabia.
Created by U+A, a global architecture and design studio, the resort will offer 220 rooms and suites, private pools, a lavish spa, and 26 branded villas that provide stunning bay and sea views.
Scheduled to open in 2025 as part of AMAALA’s first phase, this project highlights Four Seasons’ dedication to supporting Saudi Arabia’s expanding tourism sector.
