In the realm of architectural splendor, a monumental project is underway in the heart of Saudi Arabia – the construction of Jeddah Tower, which is set to become the tallest building in the world, represents a remarkable engineering and architectural achievement.

This iconic structure will rise majestically, integrating cutting-edge technology with innovative design principles.

Beyond its sheer magnitude, Jeddah Tower combines cutting-edge technology and organic design principles, capturing the essence of Saudi Arabia’s rich cultural heritage while simultaneously signaling a future brimming with possibilities.

The Jeddah Tower Designers

The architectural masterminds responsible for conceiving and shaping Jeddah Tower are Adrian Smith and Gordon Gill, the renowned duo behind Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture (AS+GG).

Their portfolio boasts an impressive array of iconic skyscrapers, including the Burj Khalifa, which Smith designed during his tenure at Skidmore, Owings & Merrill.

Together, this dynamic duo has crafted a design for Jeddah Tower that seamlessly blends cutting-edge technology with organic aesthetics, paying homage to Saudi Arabia’s rich cultural heritage while propelling the nation into architectural innovation.

Jeddah Tower’s Design

Jeddah Tower’s design draws inspiration from the organic beauty of the desert, evoking the graceful silhouette of a bundle of young desert fronds unfurling skyward.

This symbolism resonates deeply with the tower’s role as a catalyst for growth and development in the region, heralding a new era of prosperity and progress.

The Three-Petal Footprint

At the core of Jeddah Tower’s design lies a three-petal footprint, a unique architectural choice that enhances the structure’s aerodynamic properties and optimizes residential unit configurations.

This innovative approach ensures that the tower can withstand the forces of nature while providing an optimal living environment for its future inhabitants.

Notched Facades

In a nod to environmental consciousness, each of Jeddah Tower’s three facades features a series of strategically placed notches, creating pockets of shade that shield the building from the intense desert sun.
These notches contribute to energy efficiency and offer breathtaking outdoor terraces with panoramic views of Jeddah and the Red Sea.

The World’s Highest Observatory

One of Jeddah Tower’s most anticipated features is its crowning glory – the world’s highest observatory. Perched at a dizzying height, this observation deck will offer unrivaled panoramic vistas of Jeddah and the surrounding landscapes, providing visitors with a truly unique perspective on the world below.

The Pinnacle of Elevator Technology

Comprising 59 elevators, including 54 single-deck and five double-deck units, and 12 escalators, this cutting-edge system will whisk residents and visitors to their destinations at a remarkable speed of 10 meters per second (33 feet per second) in both directions.

Blending with Saudi’s Heritage

While Jeddah Tower’s design embraces the latest technological advancements, it also pays homage to Saudi Arabia’s rich cultural heritage. The tower’s sleek, streamlined form is a nod to the folded fronds of young desert plants, a visual metaphor that resonates deeply with the Kingdom’s desert landscape.
