Aligning with National Strategies

SKYNA’s establishment aligns with the National Strategy of the Aviation Sector, launched in May 2022 by the Ministry of Transport and Logistics and the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA).

This strategy aims to mobilize $100 billion from the public and private sectors by 2030, making it a leading player in the regional aviation sector. Moreover, it supports the transport of 330 million passengers across more than 250 destinations and aims to transport 45 million tons of air cargo by 2030.

GACA’s Policy Framework

General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) announced a policy framework in October 2023 to boost competition, create open markets, and increase commercial relationships and pricing transparency. This initiative is expected to drive investment in the aviation sector, in line with the kingdom’s Vision 2030.

The policy aims to level the playing field for global operators and investors, opening up airport revenue streams, offering ground handling and air cargo services licenses, and removing economic license requirements for charter flights for foreign carriers. The regulations will be rolled out over 18 months.

The Vision Behind SKYNA

SKYNA’s services flexibly cater to the diverse travel goals of private trips, official missions, and business travel. They can book dates at their convenience for business meetings, special events, and other travel purposes.

On this occasion, Mr. Mohamed Amine Merah, the Managing Partner and CEO of BIM Ventures, stated,

“The private aviation sector is set to undergo significant development in line with the Kingdom’s vision to host global events such as the Riyadh Expo 2030 and global sporting events, which will boost growth in the tourism and aviation industries. Our entry into this crucial sector marks the first step towards building more ventures within the aviation industry.”

The Future of Private Aviation Industry

The private aviation industry is experiencing significant growth due to increased service demand from business executives and officials. Given Saudi Arabia’s strategic location, it’s set to become a central hub for international aviation and a crucial connection between the three continents.

To become a significant player in the international aircraft leasing sector, Saudi’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) purchased the aircraft leasing division of Standard Chartered for $3.6 Billion in 2023.

The PIF’s move to control the aircraft leasing division of Standard Chartered is being facilitated by AviLease, a company entirely owned by the PIF. This acquisition will create a robust business with a vast fleet of 167 aircraft leased to 46 airlines around the globe.

Saudi Arabia’s move into aircraft leasing clearly indicates the nation’s ambitions to diversify its economy and strengthen its Aviation Industry.

Focusing on point-to-point flights, the airline is poised to provide travelers with a unique and luxurious experience while catering to the local population.

The launch of Riyadh Air is a testament to Saudi Arabia’s commitment to diversifying its economy, strengthening Saudi’s aviation industry, and enhancing its tourism sector.
