“We believe we are in a strong position to host the oldest women’s international competition in the world – the AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2026 – and then welcome the greatest teams in world football for the 2029 FIFA Club World Cup,” FA read. Consequently, this decision solidifies Saudi Arabia’s position as the sole contender.
The Asian Support
The Asian Football Confederation, the governing body for soccer in the continent, expressed their unanimous support for the Saudi bid. This endorsement further strengthens Saudi Arabia’s candidature for hosting the 2034 World Cup.
The Previous Hosts
The 2030 tournament has already been awarded to Morocco, Portugal, and Spain, with centenary games also being held in Uruguay, Argentina, and Paraguay.
