The Madinah Region Development Authority has announced that a fleet of 200 modern buses will serve pilgrims traveling to Al Masjid An Nabawi and Masjid Quba in the Blessed City of Al Madinah this Ramadan.
The buses will serve a total of 98 different locations throughout Madinah, aiming to reduce congestion around The Prophet’s Mosque.
The Ramadan service is expected to start on 11th March and operate from 3 pm until 1 hour after the Taraweh Prayers.
The Madinah bus project follows on from the successful launch of the Makkah bus project, which is now one of the most widely used public transport services in the Middle East.

The buses will operate along seven designated tracks, ensuring timely transportation to and from the Al-Masjid An Nabwi and Quba Mosque. The service is planned to commence at 3:00 p.m. every day and will continue until one hour after the Taraweeh prayer.

The Makkah Bus Project
The Royal Commission for Makkah City and Holy Sites (RCMC) has officially commenced the much-anticipated Makkah Bus Project.
The project introduced paid integrated services with the slogan “Ma’an A’ala Al-Darb,” which translates to “Together on the Road.” The slogan signifies the shared journey of the residents and visitors of Makkah toward a more convenient and efficient public transportation system.
The trial phase of the Makkah Bus Project, initiated in February 2022 and concluded on October 2023, has proven to be a triumph. The operation involved a fleet of 400 buses, over 800 drivers, and served commuters through 438 stations.
Catering to both the residents and visitors of Makkah, it encompassed 12 routes, spanning over 560 km. During the trial phase, the Makkah Buses have been in service along routes 3, 10, and 11.
These routes aim to connect the central vicinity near the Grand Mosque with various crucial locations in Makkah, including the neighborhoods of Al-Shuhada, Al-Kakiyyah, and Ju’ranah.
The project aims to improve the quality of life for residents and visitors in Makkah by providing safe, fast, cheap, with tickets starting at just 4 SAR and organized buses on less crowded roads.
